The Benefits of Travel – Recreation

A vacation is what you take when you can no longer take what you’ve been taking.

~Earl Wilson

The one obvious aspect everyone expects to enjoy from travel is its recreational purpose. Whether it be a relaxing vacation or an adrenaline filled adventure, traveling will quench your desire to get away in one way or another. I know what you’re thinking: Why does this aspect of the benefits of travel need to be covered? And the answer to that is: Well, because as bloggers, we love analyzing and unpacking simplicities so our readers can see just how annoyingly creative we are.

Before I begin I thought I’d let you know that Justin and I joked about how I was getting all the easy posts, but what he doesn’t realize is that if I had gotten the deeper topics, I would end up comatose in my room with vomit streaking down my shirt and my left eye shooting in another direction. It just goes to show how little responsibility I can take on without requiring three weeks to upload a new post.

Returning to the recreational benefits of sojourning abroad, Justin and I are going for both the thrill of adventure and the giddiness that comes with just being free to rest and relax. Some might travel just to get away and be idle for a good chunk of time. Those traveling simply to escape from the monotony of everyday life at home know where it’s at; we all need that time to ourselves to think and reflect on where we are in life, and maybe try a couple new things. Also remember that Europe is filled with things to do as you move about, so don’t think it’s some lame all-expenses-paid game show dream vacation to some resort in the Bahamas where you go through a couple massages a day while the kids are lost at the water park on some sugar high. Think of this sort of relaxation as a hiatus from normalcy while you sit on the patio of a classy restaurant with a journal, wine, and bed head contemplating the finer things in life.

On the other end of the spectrum, there is no limit to the amount of adventuring you could do in the diverse geography of Europe. As we mentioned in our earlier posts of the Top Places to Go in Europe, one can scale a mountain or one of the many towers/churches that abound within the great continent. When we create our bucket lists, few of us leave out a visit to at least one of the many world renowned landmarks located in Europe. I’m not saying that Europe is the only place to visit to experience a nice relaxing vacation; I’m just saying that it’s the only place to visit to experience the best vacation ever.

If you’ve been to Europe, share some of your thoughts about it as a vacation spot. We’d love to hear your side. And if you’ve never been, but would love to, let us know why you want to go and/or what you would do if you had the chance to go! Just leave your comments below, and we’ll be sure to respond.
